WH&S Monitor Project

We are pleased to announce that the WH & S Monitor project was launched at Fertiliser 2017.

In 2014, AFSA members identified that they required assistance with managing their WHS systems and finding information that was specific to their business and the fertiliser industry.

As a result of this, the WHS Monitor system was developed and released at Fertiliser 2017 for the benefit of all AFSA members.

The goals of the AFSA WHS monitor project were to:

  • Encourage safe work environments and practice
  • Help meet legislative compliance
  • Be accommodating and flexible
  • Provide a generic library of policies and procedures that is regularly updated
  • Improve AFSA knowledge of high risk activities
  • Work in all Australian states
  • Safeguard AFSA members

Through the WHS monitor, AFSA members can ensure that they remain compliant and meet third part requirements by running a system that manages:

  • WHS Management Plans - It has the ability to provide an overall plan for the company and also job specific plans as required for larger contracts
  • Human Resources - Training and induction documentation are included and regularly updated, along with any documents required to record incidents, injuries and their management
  • WHS policy - A generic library is provided, from which you have the ability to use those documents that suit your business, this includes policies for when using sub-contractors.
  • Hazard and risk assessments - Easily identify hazards and their controls
  • Chemical register (including fertilisers) - Generic library which identifies hazardous chemicals and a regularly updated MSDS library for all products
  • Vehicle maintenance - This will include all documents that are required, with Qtap to be implemented.

Workplace injuries in Australia cost the economy more than $60 billion each year.

To assist with preventing this employers are required to adhere to work health and safety (WHS) laws, regulations, codes of practice and industry- specific requirements, which are both stringent and complex.

Offences for failing to comply with WHS obligations can result in significant monetary fines and possible imprisonment.

The development and maintenance of sound work and safety practices not only provides a safer working environment, but also improves productivity and reduces overhead costs.
